Horizontal distance. The number and distance of gas detectors are not arbitrarily set. For industrial and commercial gas users who use centralized gas leak alarm control systems, multiple alarm detectors and a set of alarm controllers are often installed in the gas environment. Many merchants, in order to save costs, only install one alarm detector without considering the space size of the gas environment, often failing to meet the requirements. According to regulatory requirements, the horizontal distance between the detector and the center of the gas release wave is greater than 1 meter and less than 8 meters for natural gas, and greater than 1 meter and less than 4 meters for liquefied petroleum gas. The distance between the two detectors is less than 15 meters for natural gas and less than 6 meters for liquefied petroleum gas. Therefore, if the gas environment space is greater than the distance specified in the regulations, multiple detectors need to be installed to ensure that the gas leak alarms cover all positions.

It is understood that the alarm is not permanently effective and has a lifespan. According to regulations, the service life of gas alarms is 5 years for civilian use, 3 years for commercial use, and 3 years for industrial use, and they must be inspected annually.

Used in conjunction with a shut-off valve. The gas leak alarm must be interlocked with the emergency shut-off valve. Once the alarm detects a gas leak, the emergency shut-off valve will receive a signal and promptly cut off the gas to avoid further leakage and accidents. Otherwise, if no one notices the gas leak on site and the gas source cannot be cut off, especially at night, the gas will leak all night, and the next day when someone is active, a fire source can easily cause accidents, which is also the reason why gas accidents often occur in the early morning. Therefore, the gas leak alarm must be interlocked with the emergency shut-off valve.
